So we have all heard the rumors- Country music is set to become the new Rock 'n Roll!! What do we think - can this be the case?

Well, it sure seems to be as the Country Music scene sweeps the nation!! Everyone from 18- 80 is taking jiving lessons in halls all over the country and sure didnt we even see Hector making an appearance in the Glencarn on RTE television! Radio stars such as Ray D'Arcy and Ian Dempsey, who previously may have scoffed at 'country', are now playing the much loved and requested "Wagon Wheel" on national day-time radio! :) I'm just raging I didnt take more heed when growing up, of my mum's attempts to get me jiving in the kitchen while listening to Northern Sound of a Saturday morning!!!

Why not check out the Prince of Irish Country Nathan Carter in the Glencarn Hotel (the Grand Ole Opry of Ireland), and make a weekend of it with fantastic off- peak weekend rates at Muckno Lodge! :)

This is the scene at Muckno Lodge, Castleblayney this evening.

That's right, rising Irish Country music star Nathan Carter, is coming to The Glencarn Castleblayney on Friday 7th December, and what a fantastic way to kick off the festive season eh! :)  Celebrate your Christmas party at this fantastic Big Band Party night, with "Rock me mama like a Wagon Wheel" being sung to you under the mistletoe! :) Hey while your at it, why not make a weekend of it and stay in Muckno Lodge from as little as €18pp per night, dependent on group size. Let the festive merriment commence! :)

Massive Congratulations to the lovely German team who stayed with us here in Muckno Lodge over the last 10 days, while partaking in the E.P.F.C European Police Championships 2012. 

The guys scooped 3rd Prize in the prestigious European Angling Event which seen well over twenty teams of police from all over Europe take to the recently redeveloped shores of Lough Muckno.

Well done to local restaurant The Courtyard in Carrickmacross. They just scooped up the BIB Gourmand award, a Michlin award which recognises restaurants serving great food and offering particularly good value for money.

Definitely one to check out when you are visiting us here at Muckno Lodge! :)

"This newly renovated and extended cottage is fitted out to a high standard, being comfortable and an easy place to both relax and use as a centre from which 'to do your own thing'.  There are endless fishing opportunities on the nearby Muckno Lake catchment that produces good catches of roach, hybrids, and bream. If you are unsure of where to fish try contacting a knowledgable angling guide such as Peadar O'Brian who knows the area intimately, we found him immensely helpful on our trip (tel. 00353 42962699). There is also a local tackle shop in Castleblaney.
