Castleblaney, Co Monaghan is a well established angling centre, and is most notably known for the magnificent Lough Muckno, which Muckno Lodge Self Catering is right beside. Lough Muckno holds huge stocks of fish including bream, rudd, roach, hybrids, tench, perch as well as pike.
Popular Milltown Lough, which is heavily stocked with brown Trout is also only a 5-10 minute drive away.
There are also a number of smaller lakes nearby including the Gas Lake, Smith’s Lake, Malone’s Lake and Killygola which together with Lough Muckno and Milltown Lake, provide the angler with a wide variety and choice of quality angling venues.
As an added bonus, Muckno Lodge has it’s own private fishing lake, The Black Lake, on site.
