“I went here with a group of friends for the October bank holiday weekend. I had never stayed in Monaghan before, so was not quite sure what to expect. However, my weekend stay surpassed any expectations that I had. When we arrived we enter an old style cottage, the quaint features, such as the fireplace and original kettle stand make you feel you are part of the history of “Muckno”. Once we made our way through the cottage, we were transformed into a large contemporary kitchen, which provided everything we needed for our stay, this led out to an expansive living area where would could dine as a group, or just relax on the sofas with a drink or watch TV. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable and a great size, we even had large en-suite in the room. There is a great golf club just down the road where we went for dinner and drinks soon after we got there. It is really modern, and even had a great band playing in the bar. The lodge is only a short drive away from Castleblayney. We got a taxi down on the second night and sampled some of the pubs and nightclubs the town had to offer. The next morning we went for a nice walk down to the lake, it was beautiful even at this time of the year. Apparently they offer water sports on the lake, but we didn’t try it on this occasion but will definitely be back in 2012 to try it out. Overall it was an unforgettable weekend and we were definitely not disappointed.”
