Fantastic House for a relaxing new year’s week away
The photos for this house do not even come close to capturing how great this place really is. The beautiful features of the old house are coupled with the very modern and expansive new parts of the house. There is plenty of room here for 10 people to live very comfortably and the view out over the lake in the living room is just stunning. There is a large dining table for everyone and plenty of sofa space for relaxing afterwards.
The kitchen was incredibly well equipped with pots and pans and all mod cons. The only thing that let it down was an integrated grill and oven, when cooking for 10 people it would be handy to have the use of both simultaneously, but other than that it’s perfect. It’s a great space for cooking and also for relaxing with breakfast or to read a book.
The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with very cosy duvets for a wintery night. An added bonus was the games room in the small building next door which is great for some pool or air hockey with friends.
It’s well insulated and we never had any problems with heating it eventhough it’s a huge space we were always warm.
Peter, Fiona and Vera are lovely and welcomed us upon our arrival. Absolutely lovely people to deal with and living close by in case we needed anything.
We headed down on the free shuttle bus to the Old Coach Inn one night and and had a delicious and reasonably priced 3 course meal with a couple of drinks after. The free service to bring us back home after was an added plus and made the night very enjoyable.
Castleblayney is less than a 10min drive away and we did most of our food shopping in Lidl and Centra here. Also it has plenty of pubs and restaurants for people if they choose.
I would definitely use this house again and recommend it to friends!
