I booked 3 nights in Muckno Lodge for a family break. There were 6 of us ranging in age from 13 to 78 and we all loved it.
I really cannot recommend it highly enough, it’s probably the best self-catering accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. Fiona gave us a very warm welcome, including delicious home-made scones.
The house itself is gorgeous, a beautiful blend of old and new. It was incredibly well-equipped with everything we could possibly need and lots of little thoughtful touches like milk in the fridge and ice in the freezer. It was also very clean and we felt very safe.
The location is fabulous – just beside lake Muckno, surrounded by fields. We really enjoyed watching the cows with their calves. It was such a relaxing place to be. Castleblayney is a very short drive away. We loved the Muckno Park, particularly the walks on the Black Island and the adventure centre.
We can’t wait to go back.
